Phase 5

Coloring

This part of the process is usually the longest in terms of completion from start to finish. I may work on it for an hour or more or maybe 15 minutes at a time. The size of the branch doesn’t really factor into my decision because this is the most creative part of the process and I need to be in the mood to make art in order for this to work. I think the longest period of inactivity I ever had was about six months because I was looking for a particular color of Sharpie marker and I couldn’t find it in a store near me and I couldn’t find it online. That being said, my primary coloring tools are Sharpie markers:

I won’t go into detail on how I decided to use Sharpies in this section but if you would like to know the story, click here (this will take you to the Overview page).

For this particular project I used the Neon Sharpies and a few other uncommon Sharpie colors (I think one of them was called Berry). In the images below you will see that I started off with a geometric pattern that led into a wavy pattern of alternating colors (in both sections).

I repeated these patterns until the entire branch was colored over. The patterns were pretty simple here so it did not take me very long to finish compared to some of my other projects.
