This walking stick has some noticeable differences compared to the previous ones. I decided to leave most of the bark on and carve out grooves throughout the length. I liked the contrast between the dark bark and the light interior but when I added blue ink to the interior it ended up looking like a flowing river. This is where it gets its name (and this is the first of my walking sticks to have a name). I had taken a step back and tried to make something a little less chaotic and more elegant (my previous two walking sticks had many colors and designs). I liked how it turned out and when I was applying the polyurethane spray I didn’t have any sort of apparatus to hold the stick so I hammered in a small nail at one end (not pictured) and suspended it from the ceiling so that I could apply even coats of the spray. It worked but unfortunately the nail had split the wood too much and when I removed it a huge chunk broke off. I had to saw off the damaged end and lost about 3″. The image above is the result (I had removed the bark completely from this end).
